  • “I have always been very active, the gym was my happy place. Then came the COVID Pandemic and my lifestyle changed. I was going to the gym every day and taking cardio classes 3 times a week, which helped me stay in pretty decent shape. With no gym, eating became my nemesis and my TV was my best friend. Needless to say I put on weight. I tried a couple of diets and they seem to work for a short time, but realized that cutting out bread and sugar completely wasn’t the answer.

    After several years of injuries and surgeries, retiring, moving, remodeling, getting a puppy, packing on our COVID 20+ pounds from comfort eating, we were….not in our best shape ever. In January 2022, we talked about making some changes to adopt a healthier lifestyle, starting with eating healthier. Emphasis on the “ier”. We are both foodies, love baked goods, a glass of wine, eating out with friends, etc. Food is a big thing in our life. We didn’t want to follow a fad diet program to lose weight; been there, done that. Rather, we needed a moderate, sensible, SUSTAINABLE eating plan that would allow us to eat out, splurge, and treat ourselves once in a while.

    As several trainers told us over the years, losing those extra pounds starts in the kitchen. (Never wanted to hear that.) When we were younger, we could compensate for poor food choices by more exercise. At some point, that no longer worked. We were way past that point. And with a puppy, who has time or energy after two walks a day to go and kill yourself in the gym? And who wants to?

    Working with a registered dietician who would come up with a sustainable meal plan; and one that was also a certified personal trainer that could speak to exercise programs as well, was a real plus.

    And, most importantly, since this was a lifestyle change, it had to be something we did TOGETHER, as a couple. Like most couples, we had different amounts of weight we wanted to lose, but that was not the goal. The goal was discovering ways of healthier eating that were tasty, satisfying, attractive, and flexible…and that allowed us to go out sometimes, have a glass of wine, have pizza now and then. Along the way, Fuad assured us we would lose weight. We signed up and were ready to go.

    Day 1, after foot surgery, began a 5 day color-based smoothie program; every day the smoothies were based around fruits and vegetables of a different color (blue day, red day, green day, etc.) They were delicious and satisfying and filling. After that, we migrated to a simple daily meal plan we could repeat and modify as desired. Rather than having to prep and maintain lots of containers of fruits and veggies for snacks; we had 3 simple options: a few almonds, yogurt with fruit, or an apple with peanut butter. Simple, easy, quick, and satisfying. Fuad shared some great recipes with us for homemade pita chips and garbanzo-based hummus; delicious. He had some great salad ideas, too.

    We loved working through the 3 month program with Fuad, and we loved doing it together as a couple. He was helpful, encouraging, available, and very responsive. His gentle accountability and simple, flexible meal plans really worked for us. Never once did he say “Oh, you can’t eat that.” He was always for sustainability for the long haul, never deprivation.

    Even with having limited mobility due to foot surgery, I still hit my goal weight before the end of the program. I weigh less now than I have in years, and am ready to go buy some new clothes, except that now I am starting back slowly to the gym to rebuild some of the muscle that evaporated over the past 3 years.

    My wife is steadily losing weight and inches, well on her way to hitting her goal weight. All without any exercise programs or killer workouts. Walk the dog once or twice daily, that’s it.

    We eat out several times a week, making healthier choices, and always return to our healthy baseline even if we veer off for a meal here or there. If we go a bit over one day, we don’t undereat the next day; we go back to the healthy baseline.

    In summary, one of the best investments of our time and money in ourselves. Highly recommend FuadFit!

  • “I started working with Fuad in January, with a weight loss goal of 25-30 pounds. I needed to improve my eating habits, hopefully lower my cholesterol, and improve my overall health in general. I had gastrointestinal issues especially with bloating. Fuad realized that and kickstarted my weight loss process with a 5-day smoothie plan for easier digestion to cleanse the body from all toxins.   • “I recently concluded a 3-month session with FuadFit Nutrition, and couldn't be more positive in my review of our time together. Full transparency that I am a research nut, so immediately after our first call, I was diving in deep to learn more about the plans he was assigning me.

    Fuad's down to earth demeanor is one of the things that made me comfortable at the outset. I knew I was committing both time and money to myself, and so wanted to be fully present on the first call. His ability to explain the process, the science and the way we would be checking in to hold me accountable seemed like teamwork, rather than teacher vs student.

    The only place I would say I struggled a bit was entering my food into the daily food diary. This isn't specific to FuadFit, but mostly to the fact that am not great at immediate data entry. But, the weeks that I did stay 100% on top of my diary, Fuad had amazing feedback and suggestions on how to increase or decrease the macros in order for me to stay on the path to my goal.

    One part of the "journey" that was really impactful about his caring and implementation of my plan was when I received my bloodwork back from my doctor. I had originally hired Fuad out of vanity - I was hoping to lean up, drop some fat and become beach-worthy! :-).
